APL, the container transportation and logistics unit of Singapore-based NOL Group, was presented with the first-ever Global Full-Containerload Ocean Carrier of the Year Award sponsored by Philips Electronics.
Dr.Çenk Caliskan, software development engineer at Interval Logic Corp., received the Council of Logistics Management's 2000 Doctoral Dissertation Award at the organization's annual conference in September.
Scott Collins, chief operating officer for UPS Logistics Group's Service Parts Logistics business unit, has been awarded the 2000 Association for Services Management International (AFSMI) Service Achievement Award for his contributions to the transportation and logistics fields.
ABF Freight System Inc.'s director of safety and security, Jim McFarlin, received the Outstanding Service Award from the Safety Management Council of the American Trucking Associations. McFarlin has been involved with ABF's safety and security initiatives for 15 years.
Ward Trucking Co., a mid-Atlantic regional LTL carrier, was awarded the American Trucking Associations' President's Trophy for its overall safety program and record of safety initiatives.
APL has become the only global containership operator and logistics provider to be named to InformationWeek magazine's InformationWeek 500 list, which recognizes the 500 most innovative users of information technology. In addition, APL's Web site was named one of the best business-to-business Web sites by BtoB magazine.
Manhattan Associates Inc. has accepted Limited Technology Services' (LTS) Strategic Partner Award. LTS recognized the company's ability to deploy a fully integrated supply chain execution solution on time and on budget.
Joseph Kwok, who serves as chief operating officer of NOL, chief executive officer of the NOL Group's Chartering and Enterprise Business Units, and president of American Eagle Tankers, has been named Maritime Man of the Year and was awarded the Captain Emery Rice Medal by the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
All three Con-Way Transportation Services LTL components (Con-Way Central Express, Con-Way Southern Express, and Con-Way Western Express) received awards recognizing their year 2000 fleet safety records from the American Trucking Associations' Safety Management Council.
Lillian C. Borrone, assistant executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, has been named the 2000 recipient of the "Connie Award," presented by the Containerization & Intermodal Institute.
