The Council of Logistics Management (CLM) has named Dr. John Thomas (Tom) Mentzer as its new president. Mentzer is a logistics professor at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
CLM has named the rest of its 2001 officers as well. Joel Sutherland, senior vice president, supply chain integration at Transplace.com, was elected first vice president. The second vice president is Thomas W. Speh, professor of distribution at Miami University of Ohio. Bryan L. Kelln was named secretary and treasurer. He is president and CEO of RockShox Inc. and served as this year's CLM general conference chairman. Herbert G. Johnson, executive vice president at Premier Inc., has ascended to the office of immediate past president of CLM.
Danzas AEI Intercontinental has named Brian E. Lindholm to the post of executive vice president and chief operating officer of the company's North America region. In the interim, he will continue in his current role as vice president of the U.S. Central Division.
PBB Global Logistics has announced the appointment of Mike Scott as president and chief executive officer. He most recently served as executive vice president. He began his career with PBB in 1979.
Steve Caddy was named senior vice president, operations at Daylight Transport. He was promoted from his position of senior vice president, sales and marketing.
Michael J. Ward has been named president of CSX Transportation Inc. He formerly headed CSXT's coal business unit, managed Conrail merger planning, and was the railroad's chief financial officer. Also at CSX Transportation, Robert A. Bernard has been named vice president and chief safety officer, succeeding James T. Schultz. Michael Nicoletti, assistant vice president, culture and employee development, will assume the responsibilities formerly held by Schultz for facilitating the company's culture-change initiatives.
Jevic Transportation Inc. has announced the promotion of Kim M. Paonessa to the position of director of advertising and promotions. She has been with the company for three years.
J. Edwin Conaway has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of Con-Way NOW. He was previously the company's most senior executive, holding the title of vice president and general manager.
