Teklogix Unveils Windows-Based Mobile Computer
Teklogix Inc. has introduced a high-performance, Windows-based, mobile handheld computer named Teklogix 7510. The unit incorporates open PC technology supporting industry-standard hardware, operating systems, and applications. The unit is compliant with the IEEE 802.11 RF wireless standard to give workers the full power of enterprise-wide applications.
With its laser bar-code scanner, wireless radio, signature capture features, voice capability, and optional Mag Swipe Reader, the Teklogix 7510 is suited to warehouse and logistics applications. The 7510 combines data capture and communications technology to receive, track, sort, store, and retrieve information from remote databases, mobile stand-alone computers, and point-of-sale terminals.
The Teklogix 7510 also provides such benefits as the ability to expand and seamlessly integrate with enterprise WAN and LAN applications as a thin client, fat client, or stand-alone device. Users can speed through menu and application routines via fingertip control and support the collection of handwritten information. For data-intensive applications, the unit can be used with smart exchange software for cost-efficient wide-area network use.
Sato America Launches "Plug-In" Interfaces
Two new "plug-in" interfaces from Sato America Inc. will make it easier to hook up Sato's CL Series printers to computers. The USB Interface Card replaces the standard RS232C or Centronics Interface Cards in its CL model printers. Powered by the computer's USB port, it provides a maximum data transmission speed of 10 kilo bits per second. The other interface, the Ethernet Adapter Card, connects the printer to a network via a 10baseT UTP using a RJ45 connector.
