Remstar Introduces Horizontal Carousel
Remstar International Inc. now offers its horizontal carousel, an automated storage and retrieval system consisting of shelves mounted on horizontal tracks that rotate to the user on command. The horizontal carousel can be used separately or in conjunction with other Remstar products.
Designed for fast, reliable performance, the carousel is a timesaving device that provides for high productivity and picking accuracy while reducing worker fatigue, says the manufacturer. In addition, it reduces the amount of floor space required for storage by up to 60 percent.
A wide range of shelving options are available to maximize product storage density and selectivity, including choices for shelving widths, depths, and spacing. Individual shelving bay capacities range from 600 to 2,500 pounds. The horizontal carousel is ideal for storage and piece-picking order fulfillment in the electronics, automotive, hospital, pharmaceutical, food, grocery, and manufacturing industries.
According to the company, the carousel performs at peak production when combined with Remstar's Pick Lights. Pick Lights display pick quantities and guide the operator to the correct shelf. In addition, these products use multiple colors and ergonomically placed feature buttons to give operators convenient control over their work environment.
Storage System Designed for Strength
Prest Pack Inc. now offers its Prest Lock 2 storage system, which features a teardrop design. According to the company, this new teardrop system is rated 20-percent stronger than traditional open-back systems.
Roll-formed tube construction makes the Prest Lock 2 system quick and easy to install. Prest Lock 2 is fully compatible with teardrop systems made by other manufacturers and can be used in the replacement of damaged, weak, and worn-out uprights and beams in traditional teardrop systems. Prest Lock 2 automatically locks into place-with no pins needed.
Heavy-duty compression fasteners help beams stay put, regardless of how many times they've been repositioned. Heavy-duty replaceable locks are designed to eliminate the need to replace an entire beam if the lock is damaged.
Rack Decking Offered in Several Configurations
Durable Wire-Mesh Rack Decking from awp industries inc. is available in standard sizes or can be customized to a customer's unique specifications. The decking is easily installed in new storage situations, but its versatility allows for simple integration with existing rack systems, the manufacturer says.
The Wire-Mesh Rack Decking comes in a range of configurations to meet a variety of applications. Type A decking is designed for racks with step-beam shelf construction. Type B decking is designed for box-beam/structural-beam configurations. Type F decking is fabricated without channels. Standard dimensions include depths of 36, 42, or 48 inches and widths of 46, 52, or 58 inches.
Maintenance-free, clean, safe, and economical, this decking meets all fire and safety regulations by working well with overhead sprinkler systems, according to the manufacturer. The wire-mesh configuration allows for easy viewing of inventory, while preventing stored goods from falling through the rack.

According to the manufacturer, the modular steel construction delivers more than two times the strength of competitive offerings. Rollers of high-impact nylon attached to total-lock casters provide complete rack mobility for quick changeovers and restocks.

Carousel Provides Floor-to-Ceiling Storage Solution
MegaStar Products Division's MegaStar Station, a vertical carousel, uses a room's height to provide a floor-to-ceiling storage solution.
The MegaStar Station is used to store small parts, tools, bulk material, and containers. It is designed to function in industrial conditions and allows for fast access to stored items. The station also provides comprehensive stock administration.
Available in three standard widths and depths, the MegaStar holds a maximum load of 33,000 pounds. It features large, easy-to-use keys and displays that are positioned to ensure ease of operation.
MegaStar's vertical carousel is ergonomically designed to provide smooth and controlled delivery of goods to the user. Other features include safety light barriers and touch bars to guarantee employee safety and to recognize goods out of position.
