Meto Printers Built for Endurance
Meto Inc.'s new thermal printer series, the Meto Industrial (MI) models, were designed for distribution, warehousing, and manufacturing operations. All of the MI model industrial printers, which are protected by a hard-shell casing, can handle print jobs in harsh environments, says the manufacturer.
The MI-4 and MI-6 models can handle images of up to 4.1 inches and 6.5 inches wide, respectively. They also offer high throughput with speeds of up to 6 inches per second for the MI-4 and up to 8 inches per second for the MI-6.
Designed to meet many bar-code applications, the MI-4 can be used in the logistics, retail supply, and transportation fields where compliance labeling is heavily used. The MI-6 industrial label printer is suitable for chemical industry, warehousing, manufacturing, or multiple-part applications that require varied media.
The MI Series units feature a 40-character LCD display that communicates critical user information to the operator in five languages-English, Italian, French, German, and Spanish. The printers also come with Windows driver support, 8MB of RAM, and many bar-code symbols. Other optional accessories include a single label dispenser, internal rewind, a cutter with a tray, and an international character set.
Label Applicator Suitable for Conveyor Lines
Astro-Med, a division of QuickLabel Systems, has introduced a new stepper motor roll-on label applicator. The AD-2800 is designed for continuous production around the clock with minimal wear.
The roll-on label-dispensing system minimizes web tension and breakage, thereby reducing production halts. The unit applies labels to the top, bottom, or sides of flat and cylindrical surfaces. It can be used for labeling cartons, blister boxes, bottles, cans, cases, drums, jugs, jars, knock-down boxes, and bags.
A keypad on the LCD faceplate allows the user to digitally control label gap. The AD-2800 applies pressure-sensitive labels directly onto products traveling on a conveyor line at speeds of up to 1,400 inches per minute, with an accuracy of±0.0625 of an inch.
The AD-2800 uses a jam-preventative label "Push-Off" design. The self-contained compact design allows simple integration into most conveyor systems and eliminates any externally mounted boxes or controls.
Weber's Printers Designed for Flexibility
Weber Marking Systems' new Legitronic 27/28 Series thermal/thermal-transfer label printers are designed to adapt to changing application needs.
The 27 Series units incorporate a standard 203-dpi printhead that delivers high-density bar codes, text, and graphics at 10 inches per second. The 28 Series (shown here) prints 300 dpi at speeds programmable up to 6 inches per second for higher-density printing. Depending on the model and options selected, the machines can accommodate larger pressure-sensitive labels and tags up to 7 inches wide and up to 39 inches long.
AS/RS Features Quick Installation
Katlyn International, integrator of industrial control systems, has launched SmartKat, a modular automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS). Instead of relying on a custom installation, Katlyn assembles pre-engineered SmartKat modules to create a virtually instant automated warehouse. SmartKat uses Katlyn's software with hardware from Murata Equipment Ltd. of Japan to build modules that can handle a variety of load sizes and weights.
SmartKat can be fully operational in six months, whereas other solutions can take up to 18 months. The system is a Windows-based operating system that requires minimal operator training.
