CF launches customer Web site
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 9/1/2000
Consolidated Freightways of Menlo Park, Calif., which operates one of the world's largest less-than-truckload carriers, has launched cf.com, a Web site for its customers, most of which are longhaul shippers. The site allows customers to create and print a single bill of lading online, download or print shipping forms and freight labels, schedule shipment pickups, receive routing guide/terminal information, file freight claims, and retrieve invoicing and account status information.
CF is in the final stages of testing custom Web sites that will deliver sensitive and proprietary information to premium customers, reports Patrick Brady, vice president of sales and marketing. The company is also pursuing strategic partnerships that will push relevant technology at the customers who need it most, he says. "Our goal is to enable customers to manage their own freight and inventories, change routing, and combine shipments all while freight is moving through our system."
