Layoffs loom at FedEx

FedEx has announced that it plans to cut between 200 and 250 information-technology jobs, about 5 percent of the 5,000 employees in its services division, in order to improve efficiency and productivity. The company plans to tell employees on Sept. 11 which positions will be cut. FedEx has data centers in Memphis; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Dallas; Los Angeles; Pittsburgh; and Akron and Hudson, Ohio.
