By Staff -- Logistics Management, 6/1/1999
The industry last month witnessed a second major software-vendor alliance. International trade software vendor Syntra of New York City formed an alliance with Optum Inc. of White Plains, N.Y., which provides applications for warehousing, transportation, and dynamic inventory deployment. The two companies say their combined applications will help customers manage their entire global product distribution process. As part of the deal, Syntra says it will support Optum's New Action Optimization initiative, an application that allows companies to respond more quickly to customers' delivery requests.
"The Syntra and Optum partnership provides potent solutions to address increasing supply chain complexity driven by global business operations," says Syntra CEO Richard Giordanella. "We strongly support the Optum approach to helping companies manage distribution processes hour by hour."
In a related development, the consulting firm Ernst & Young of New York City says it has forged a relationship with Optum to implement that provider's software.
