Major WMS Vendor to Lease Its Software

A top provider of warehouse management system (WMS) software, TRW Inc. of Reston, Va., will begin leasing its software to users. TRW's new application hosting service will allow companies to lease a warehouse management solution.

In addition to providing the software and information technology support, TRW officials say they will lease the necessary automatic-identification and radio-frequency equipment to users. Traditionally, software vendors have sold their packages rather than rent them.
