Capital Equipment

By Daryl Delano -- Logistics Management, 8/1/1998

There's still little sign of significant inflation in light- and heavy-truck prices. Truck trailers are another story, however: They've risen by 2.2% during the past six months and by 3.8% over the past year. Across the entire U.S. economy, prices for capital equipment in total fell by 0.6% between June 1997 and June 1998. Here, as in so many other sectors, the Asian economic crisis is helping to keep inflation in check.
