ABF offers pricing online

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 8/1/1998

ABF Freight Systems has announced that it now offers customer-specific pricing quotations over the Internet. The national less-than-truckload carrier says that most Internet rate inquiries are interactive with instantaneous response. Responses include detailed pricing information unique to each customer. Confidential information is protected by encryption technology and passwords.

More complicated inquiries, including pricing on offshore lanes, will receive a response by e-mail, facsimile, or telephone, as requested by the user. ABF says that during its expanded business hours, nearly all inquiries will receive a reply within 20 minutes.

The carrier also has introduced what it calls the ABF Toolkit, a navigational aid for customers to use on personal computers. It is a desktop tool bar that provides access to productivity tools at ABF's Internetsite (www.abfs.com). The Toolkit is available at no charge at the Web site.
