Composite Pallet

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 8/1/1998

Composite Pallet has developed a plastic pallet that can rack heavy loads with minimal deflection and without the use of steel reinforcements. The pallet is constructed from a PVC (polyvinyl chloride) base material that is both flame-retardant and lightweight.

A standard 40- by 48-inch pallet would weigh 35 pounds. It can handle about 4,000 pounds of product in a rack. In addition, the company says it can build custom pallets of any size with no extra tooling costs because of the manufacturing methods used. Each pallet board is cut to a desired length and then attached using Composite Pallet's proprietary bonding method to form a unitized pallet. The manufacturer can produce stringer, four-way, or wing-style pallets.
