Cookson Plastic Molding Corp.

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 8/1/1998

Cookson Plastic Molding Corp. has introduced a fully recyclable plastic pallet designed to compete head-to-head with the industry-standard, rackable wood GMA pallet. Nicknamed "The Boss," this pallet uses a unique I-beam reinforcement system that makes it the first all-plastic pallet to meet or surpass performance standards currently established for 40- by 48-inch edge-rackable Grocery Manufacturers' Association-specified wood pallets.

Made from structural-foam molded, high-density polyethylene, the block-style Boss pallet measures 40 by 48 by 511/16 inches and weighs approximately 57 pounds. It is designed with an edge-rack load capacity of 2,800 pounds and a dynamic load capacity of 5,000 pounds. The manufacturer says the structural-foam molding process it uses produces an exceptionally tough, durable pallet.

The pallet's consistent size, weight, and durability make it fully compatible with even the most advanced automation systems. Design features incorporated into the pallet minimize the effects of extreme cold and heat.
