Private truckers, TIA forge link
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 7/1/1999
The National Private Truck Council (NPTC) and the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) have joined forces to create a new freight-matching and communications network. The network is designed to help private truckers find loads and to provide brokers with another resource for locating available capacity.International Fax Service (IFS) of Florida developed the technology behind the system. The TIA and NPTC claim that their system provides access to more loads and trucks than any similar service on the Internet. It also provides participants with direct connections to freight-matching databases, private carriers, and load brokers in North America. Members pay $60 a month to gain access to the network, plus $85 to use IFS's public database.
The NPTC is a trade organization that represents private fleets. TIA is an organization of freight intermediaries, including domestic forwarders and brokers.
