"MAXXLance" Loads and Unloads Trucks in Minutes

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 7/1/1999

The MAXXLance fully automated loading and unloading system from MAXX Material Handling can load or unload a 57-foot trailer in just five minutes, says the manufacturer.

The system consists of two integrated sections. Trucks back into a trailer docking station that is part of the LanceLoader platform, which holds the pre-staged load. The platform is fitted with rails or bi-directional floor lances, which pneumatically lift the entire trailer load at one time. When loading, the lances move forward, then deflate and deposit the load on the floor of the trailer. Unloading works in the reverse order.

The system can handle any type of packaging, including pallets, bins, carts, racks, cages, and crates. The platform can be raised to handle bi-level loading jobs. It serves trailers ranging from 20 feet to 57 feet in length at a speed of 48 feet per minute.
