Leveler Handles High-Cube, "Low Boy" Trailers
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 8/1/1999
The Serco Co.'s "Versa-Dock XL" hydraulic leveler is designed to facilitate the loading and unloading of high-cube, "low boy," and conventional trailers at a single dock position. This leveler allows 9-foot-wide access for below-dock loading where double-wide pallets and 8-foot-wide racks are commonly used. This leveler features 12-inch-wide hydraulically adjustable bumpers on both sides of a standard-width leveler. To service low high-cube trailers, the leveler and bumpers are lowered in tandem to provide access to 8-foot-wide racks without restrictions or obstructions. According to the manufacturer, the Versa-Dock XL eliminates the need for dedicated docks or expensive truck-leveling devices to service van-width pallet-loaded trailers and reduces risk of cargo damage and unsafe loading/unloading practices.
The Versa-Dock XL units offer all of the standard features of Serco's hydraulic levelers, including such attributes as push-button operation, regenerative hydraulics, and a powered-in/powered-out lip and hydraulic safety stop.
