Kelley's "FX" Dock Leveler Boasts Unique Lift System

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 8/1/1999

Kelley Dock System offers its best-selling "FX" series of dock levelers, which are easy-to-operate units that rely on a low-pressure air-bag system for lift.

This simple system combines high reliability with low maintenance requirements. A small fan, connected directly to the air bag, raises the ramp. The air bag is filled with plastic foam so it retains its inflated shape at all times.

The FX leveler offers several advantages over hydraulic levelers, says the manufacturer. It is maintenance-free and comes with a five-year warranty. Because there are no hydraulic pumps, hoses, fitting cylinders, packing, bearings, counterbalance springs, or seals, there is little potential for breakdowns. When the FX is stored in neutral position, it does not have the "bounce" of a hydraulic unit, which can cause wear and tear on the equipment.
