Zone Routing Conveyor Speeds Order Fulfillment

Rapistan Systems says its new zone routing conveyor and software system speeds up order fulfillment because it determines quickly and accurately the zones in which picks are needed for each order.

The user-friendly operating software for the Windows NT platform provides load-destination dispatching, data collection, bar-code scanner monitoring, order-consolidation control, and host-computer mediation.

A scanner reads a container's bar code as it moves through the conveyor network in the pick modules. The zone routing computer submits the load-status information from the bar code to the host computer, then combines the host computer's feedback with the current conveyor-line status to ensure containers are routed only to those zones where picks are needed.
