Portable Printer's Sleep System Conserves Power

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 10/1/1998

The portable PA400 direct-thermal printer from Zebra Technologies features an advanced power-management system that automatically puts the printer to "sleep" between labels, thereby enabling the printer to survive an entire eight-hour shift on one battery charge.

Throughout the life of the battery, the "active voltage compensation" system ensures consistent print quality. Both systems enable the users to take advantage of the mobility of a portable printer without sacrificing bar-code accuracy or productivity.

The printer, which weighs in at just 4.3 pounds, is transportable. The compact unit is 7.9 inches high by 9.2 inches wide by 2.9 inches deep. Standard screws attach a shoulder strap, handle, or other carrying device to provide maximum user mobility and comfort. Rear-mounted studs on the unit enable forklift mounting, delivery-van usage, or belt-carrying.
