Average aircargo prices declined 0.7% between July and August. The Labor Department's composite price index for all types of scheduled aircargo movement was 2.0% lower this August than during August 1997. Property freight prices fell 1.7% during the latest month, after falling 3.2% between June and July. The price index for this category now is almost 6% below where it stood a year ago. After a five-month period of price stability, non-scheduled cargo charter inflation showed signs of accelerating during August.
