The overall Producer Price Index fell 0.4% between July and August, and inflation in most transportation capital-equipment categories eased as well. Average light-truck prices fell by 0.2% for the second month in a row, and heavy-truck prices eased 0.3% in the latest month. The only category that has recorded accelerating inflation in recent months has been railroad equipment. where prices rose 0.2% during August.
