Trucking
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 9/1/1999
The price index for trucking services held steady from June to July 1999, despite a 0.1% hike in less-than-truckload (LTL) rates. LTL continues to be the trucking industry's inflationary sticking point. Since June 1994, LTL rates have risen 29.1%. The average price to ship full truckloads, meanwhile, rose only 8.3% over the same period. The sustained economic expansion in the United States has been the main driver of truck inflation rates. Higher costs for diesel fuel and labor also continue to contribute to trucking price hikes.
