SmarteCommerce Software Suite Automates International Trade

In response to growing demand for integrated, A-to-Z software solutions, Vastera has released an "umbrella" package of international trade-management products under the name "SmarteCommerce." The software suite includes three main product categories:

- SmarteWare, which includes the "Global Passport" Web-enabled, integrated export-import software application. Companies can use it either to manage the full range of international trade activities or to work on a modular basis to handle country-specific regulatory compliance and automated tracking and documentation of imports and exports.

- SmarteContent, which includes current, updated regulatory information and trade data for countries around the world. Vastera collects, manages, and communicates information on all regulatory changes, updates, and announcements for the countries it tracks to clients electronically via the Internet.

- SmarteMethods, which encompasses consulting services for international trade logistics as well as education, software implementation, and support services for Vastera's Global Passport application.

Vastera, based in Dulles, Va., has been leading the pack in the fast-growing field of international trade logistics software. The company, which last year acquired two international trade services firms, reported revenue growth of 168 percent in the first half of 1999.
