Semi-Trailer Ideal for Long and Oversized Loads

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 9/1/1999

Nicolas Industrie has introduced its Nicolong semi-trailer as an extension of its line of steered-axle, low-deck semi-trailers. Designed to transport construction equipment or large industrial loads of up to 80 metric tons, it offers high-clearance pneumatic or hydraulic suspension and a range of three to eight axles in a single or double telescopic deck.

Maximum loads can range from 28 to 36 feet long in the closed position and 49 to 98 feet long in the open position. The seven- and eight-axle models are mainly supplied with a nontelescopic deck or in a single telescopic version.

The Nicolong also is available with an integrated dolly and an articulated gooseneck featuring hydraulic height adjustment to adjust load distribution on the towing vehicle. Its automatic hydromechanical steering is actuated by the towing vehicle, is TUV approved, and is fitted with a realigning jack system.

Trailer steering is through a steering beam located under the gooseneck. Additional features include increased deck lengths, single or double rear loading ramps, a hydraulic ramp positioning system, and a power generator. Remote steering control, centralized self or central lubrication, a traversing saddle, odometer, and "abnormal load" warning signs also are available.
