Accu-Sort Offers Lightweight, High-Speed Bar-Code Reader
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 9/1/1999
Accu-Sort Systems now offers the Model AV3700, a new low-cost, lightweight, modular CCD camera that provides up to 10,000 scans per second. New profiling software makes it possible to read codes on all six sides of a parcel using just five cameras, making high-speed CCD tunnels affordable for parcel sorting, retail/wholesale distribution, mail-order distribution, and parcel OCR reading, says the manufacturer. The Model AV3700 can read both linear and two-dimensional symbols omnidirectionally at conveyor speeds of up to 600 fpm. The PC-based decoder runs under Windows NT 4.0. This open architecture system can communicate via Ethernet or any NT-compatible local area network.
Optional high-resolution optics enable the addition of telecoding and OCR technology to allow the automatic sortation of packages without bar-code labels. The Model AV3700 retains clear images of no-read parcels. The captured image clearly indicates the condition or absence of a label.
Weighing just 35 pounds, this scanner can be easily mounted in over-the-belt and side- and bottom-read applications.
