Job gains in the transportation-services sector in the past year have generally mirrored employment growth in the economy at large, which has run about 2.7% over the past 12 months. However, average weekly earnings in these sectors have grown much less than in the rest of the economy, suggesting that the transportation industry has achieved above-average improvements in productivity over the past year.
