Intermec Technologies Corp. has unveiled the Norand PenKey 6640 mobile computing system, featuring a rugged portable pen tablet PC. Based on Intel's 266-MHz MMX Pentium processor, the unit features a modular design that lets users easily upgrade to Pentium II, higher levels of RAM, and greater hard-disk capacities. The 6640 system can meet virtually any wired or wireless communication requirement with WAN, LAN, and GPS radio options, plus integrated Ethernet and integrated universal serial bus ports for connectivity to peripheral devices.
Built to withstand harsh environments, the Norand 6640 is constructed of nylon-reinforced, high-impact polycarbonate plastic. Its case contains an internal cast magnesium frame to absorb mechanical shock and prevent overheating. The large, easy-to-read display is available in either daylight-viewable color or monochrome.
The Norand 6640 is complemented by a complete set of docking solutions, including vehicle and in-premise docks.
