Council elects officers

The Council of Logistics Management has elected Kathleen Strange, director of logistics strategy for Staples Inc., as its president for 1999. A graduate of Framingham State College in Massachusetts, Strange has worked in the logistics profession for 20 years. Prior to joining Staples, she was a sourcing leader for global distribution and packaging for GE Plastics. Earlier, she was vice president of logistics and vice president of community affairs for Stride Rite Corp.

Other CLM officers named during the group's annual meeting in Anaheim, Calif., last month included:

* First vice president: Herbert G. Johnson, senior vice president of logistics, Consumer Value Stores.

* Second vice president: John Thomas Mentzer, distinguished professor of logistics, University of Tennessee.

* Secretary and treasurer: Joel Sutherland, president, Envoy Inc.

CLM is a professional organization that focuses on issues of logistics management. It works in cooperation with industry and professional and academic organizations on research and formal educational activities to further the understanding and development of logistics.
