A roundup of North American news

Consolidated Freightways (CF) is pushing to become a dominant player in the Mexican transportation market. Last month the LTL carrier formally launched new surface and air services in that country. Through its new joint venture with Monterrey-based Alfri Loder Group, CF now offers seamless, single-source LTL service between the United States and 50 Mexican destinations. Customers in Mexico have access to all of CF's offerings, including satellite vehicle tracking, online shipment information, shipping software, and single invoices for shipments destined for anywhere in North America. At the same time, CF introduced its "PrimeTime Air" expedited service to Mexico. PrimeTime Air offers one- to seven-day door-to-door delivery, next-flight-out, and charter air service. In addition to air freight, customers can request exclusive trailer-use, merge-in-transit, and other specialized transportation services.
