Door Seals Save Energy, Money

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 10/1/1999

Aladdin Industries Inc. has introduced its new energy-saving line of door seals--the DS-100, DH-150, and the DA-200. All three models prevent the transfer of inside and outside air, keeping in heat and air conditioning while excluding airborne contaminants, insects, and foul weather, says the manufacturer.

The DS-100 fixed-header seal is designed to provide an effective seal around the perimeter of the loading-dock door. When a truck approaches the opening, it compresses the fabric-covered polyurethane foam pads to block out the elements and prevent energy loss. Head pads of various heights and weighted drop curtains are available to accommodate a wide range of truck heights.

DH-150 seals feature a curtain-style head component to service a variety of truck and door heights. Optional splits in the head curtain with a pull-rope system are available to allow vertical adjustment in case greater access to the rear of the vehicle is desired.

The adjustable head pad on the DA-200 seals is designed to allow smooth vertical positioning. The head pad is reinforced with a steel channel frame, and a galvanized-metal hood is included with each unit to protect the system from the elements. The follower curtain allows the head pad to be positioned evenly while assuring a complete seal throughout its full adjustment range.
