Linde Forklift Boasts Several New Features

Linde Lift Truck Corp. has unveiled its E18C electric-powered, counterbalanced forklift truck, which boasts several new features. The 3,500-pound capacity, 48-volt truck includes a multi-function joystick control to activate the truck's hydraulic system. The joysticks are designed as an integral part of the adjustable armrest. The vehicle also features a tilt-away overhead guard. By releasing a catch at the front of the truck, the entire overhead guard and operator cell can be tilted back and locked in two positions. The first position allows for quick daily checks, while the second makes battery changing simple.
The truck also comes with an articulated drive axle. As the mast tilts backward for load transport, the front drive axle shifts forward, increasing the wheelbase and improving stability while traveling.
The Linde Digital Control system eliminates the directional-control contractors and provides full-time dynamic braking through the dual shunt-wound drive motors. The manufacturer says this feature results in dramatically extended brake life and regenerative braking to conserve energy.
The new combination instrument cluster monitors all truck functions. A battery-discharge indicator reads available battery power for both standard lead-acid and maintenance-free batteries. It also is set to reduce lift speed automatically at 80-percent battery discharge.
