I-6 Engines Built for Strength, Durability
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 10/1/1999
International has launched its new line of in-line six-cylinder diesel engines. The International I-6 family was designed for optimum performance, reliability, and durability across a broad range of medium-truck applications. Using technology to optimize air and fuel management, International has created a line of engines with high horsepower and torque without adding unneeded weight or increasing the engine package size, says the company.New features include large intake valves for improved air flow; short stroke for lower piston speed; and piston-cooling designs all generated from high-technology computer modeling and simulation systems.
The new I-6 engine models come standard with the Diamond Logic Electronic Controls to improve engine performance and allow engine products to integrate fully with International dealer support systems. In addition to engine electronics, the engines incorporate the HEUI (hydraulically actuated, electronically controlled unit injection) fuel system with Split-Shot fuel injection, a two stage injection process that reduces emissions and noise.
The electro-hydraulic system constantly adjusts to the demands of engine speeds and load conditions throughout the entire operating range to deliver the precise amount of fuel for maximum power and efficiency, while maintaining full emissions compliance.
