Cummins ISX Engine Available in 565 and 600 HP

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 10/1/1999

Cummins Engine Co. now offers its ISX engine at 565- and 600-horsepower ratings for owner/operators.

Weighing approximately 300 pounds less than other engines in their class with integrated brakes, the ISX 565 and ISX 600 deliver up to 600 horsepower under the hood and 1,850 pounds per foot of mountain-climbing torque, says Cummins.

Both engines are designed using CAD/CAM and 3-D modeling and feature Smart Torque technology that increases the number of axle options available for use with the engines.

The ISX 565 and ISX 600 feature dual overhead cams. The first camshaft drives the high-pressure fuel-injection system; the second drives the valves and the Intebrake integrated brake system that delivers up to 600-brake horsepower on both 565- and 600-horsepower ratings and works automatically with cruise control.
