It's almost 1999

It's almost 1999 and the federal government has taken the first steps toward enterprise resource planning (ERP). The U.S. Mint and PeopleSoft Inc. recently unveiled COINS, or Consolidated Information System, to provide the mint with an integrated information system for manufacturing, distribution, and finance. Not only will COINS address key business challenges such as improving customer service and operational efficiencies, but it also will help solve the mint's Year 2000 problem.
