Retread tires save North America more than $2 billion annually
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 12/1/1998
Retread tires save North America more than $2 billion annually, says the Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB), a non-profit industry-supported association. According to TRIB, truckers in the United States and Canada purchase 18.7 million retreads annually, compared with 13.5 million new replacement tires. This saves hundreds of millions of gallons of oil, says the bureau. The savings benefit end users, says TRIB, "because the use of retreads [reduces] the cost of everything we eat, drink, wear, or enjoy." For more information, visit www.retread.org.
