It seems that fears that businesses would stockpile goods
By Staff -- Logistics Management, 11/1/1999
It seems that fears that businesses would stockpile goods before year end in anticipation of Y2K computer problems may have been overstated, based on one industry indicator. The APICS Business Outlook Index for September showed that manufacturing inventory stocks fell an estimated 0.3 percent in the month, showing no sign of an inventory buildup. The index, sponsored by APICS--The Educational Society for Resource Management--is based on a monthly survey of manufacturers compiled by Michael Evans, an economist at Northwestern University.
