Estes Express Lines has purchased G.I. Trucking Co., an LTL carrier based in Los Angeles, from Arkansas Best Corp. Estes has also announced plans to collaborate with G.I. Trucking to serve the longhaul and regional business in each other's territories. Estes and G.I.'s senior management have recently completed a joint purchase of G.I.'s stock. The two companies will move all communication, administrative, and computer functions to a single system although the organizations will continue to market their services separately.

UPS Logistics Group, a subsidiary of United Parcel Service, is now providing fully automated, self-service parts distribution. Customers can now pick up or return parts 24 hours a day, seven days a week with this new technology. It enables access to secured UPS Logistics Group storage facilities.

Ryder System Inc. has also launched a round-the-clock program. Ryder 24/7 Network is a nationwide network of 56 maintenance and fueling facilities servicing customers' fleets 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Delfour Corp., a third-party logistics solutions provider, has re-opened the Delfour Training Education Center with new equipment and upgraded technology.

Averitt Express is now collecting customer feedback via its Web site. Clients can click on a new Web link, which the company calls "Share Your Experience," to express their feedback on the company's range of freight transportation and logistics services.

Troy Container Line has more than doubled its network of container freight stations. The new stations are located in Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; Des Moines, Iowa; Detroit; Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, Ind.; Kansas City and St. Louis, Mo.; Milwaukee; and Minneapolis. Troy already has stations in Baltimore; Boston; Chicago; Cleveland; New York; Norfolk, Va.; and Philadelphia.

Parcel/Direct, a ground residential parcel expeditor, has expanded its network of distribution centers with the openings of facilities in Edison, N.J., and Northborough, Mass.

Union Pacific Railroad and CSX Transportation Inc. have added Philadelphia to the destination list of their Express Lane service for perishable goods originating in the western United States.
