An array of keynote addresses, roundtable discussions, and product and service exhibits attracted an international audience of logistics professionals to the first annual SupplyChainLinkExpo. The online event, produced by Cahners Business Information's Supply Chain/OEM Group, which includes Logistics Management & Distribution Report, took place Oct. 17 and 18. The expo, which brought together the expertise and market reach of 10 market-leading business-to-business brands covering the full scope of the supply chain, attracted more than 7,000 attendees.
The full contents of the expo remain available on the Web through Jan. 17, 2002, at www.supplychainlinkexpo.com. Visitors to the expo's "Move" pavilion can view a keynote address by Yossi Sheffi, director of MIT's Center for Transportation Studies, and a roundtable discussion by the research team that developed the 10th annual Giants of Shipping Report, featured in the September issue of Logistics Management.
Headlining the conference portion of the SupplyChainLinkExpo were daily keynote speakers. The first day featured a presentation by Thomas Stallkamp, CEO of MSX International and former president of Chrysler Corp. Stallkamp discussed how best to use trade exchanges (such as Covisint) to bring greater efficiencies to the supply chain. The Day Two keynote speaker was W. James McNerney Jr., CEO of 3M Corp., who shared his vision of how Six Sigma forms the nucleus of productivity, supply chain management, and lean manufacturing operations.
