Copacino, McIntyre receive Salzberg Medallions

Staff -- Logistics Management, 4/1/2002

William C. Copacino, global managing partner of supply chain management service lines for Accenture, and Maria A. McIntyre, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Council of Logistics Management (CLM), are this year's recipients of the 2002 Salzberg Medallion for outstanding service in transportation and supply chain management. The awards are presented annually by the Harry E. Salzberg Memorial Program of Syracuse University's School of Management in Syracuse, N.Y. Both recipients delivered lectures earlier this month at a daylong program attended by students, academics, industry professionals and government officials.

Copacino, a Logistics Management columnist, author and frequent speaker at industry forums, has been a consultant in logistics and supply chain management for 22 years. At Accenture, his focus is on operating model development and supply chain strategies and execution. Prior to joining Accenture in 1989, he was a vice president at consulting firm Arthur D. Little; he previously worked in manufacturing management at General Electric. Copacino earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Cornell University and a master's of business administration from Harvard Business School.

McIntyre has been with the 14,000-member Council of Logistics Management since 1974, holding various management positions in the educational group's finance, legal and operations organizations. She was named vice president of operations in 1996 and was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer in May 2001. McIntyre's responsibilities include ensuring that CLM meets its members' diverse educational needs and working with academic and business leaders to support professional development in the fields of logistics and supply chain management. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Chicago State University and has completed several executive-development programs in the field of logistics and general business management. She is active in a number of business and community service organizations in the Chicago area.
