Elite International Transportation, which serves the chemical, petrochemical and food industries, has opened two logistics and warehouse facilities in China. A 400,000-square-foot facility in Shanghai will serve as Elite's main office in China, and a 300,000-square-foot facility in Tianjin will offer warehousing, customs clearance, transportation and redistribution services. Both locations can handle hazardous chemicals.
Averitt Express has announced a new online application known as "Ship Plus" that will help shippers streamline their less-than-truckload (LTL) shipment documentation processes. With this system, shippers can create and save bills of lading and submit them via the Web to request a shipment pickup.
Schenker Inc. USA has announced the opening of its newest Integrated Logistics Center (ILC) in Indianapolis, Ind. With more than 40 logistics experts on site and more than 130,000 square feet of warehouse space available, the ILC will provide international transportation management, domestic transportation management and customs management services as well as complex warehousing solutions.
Lester A. Probst has opened K&L Consultants LLC. Based in Upper Saddle River, N.J., the consultancy will specialize in the automation of freight rates and charges for purposes of freight payment, audits, carrier comparison and supply chain automation. Probst is the founder of both Numerax and TCS (Transportation Concepts & Services).
Saia, a regional one- and two-day LTL carrier, has introduced an online electronic routing guide. By visiting the carrier's Web site, www.saia.com, customers can view complete terminal listings, a direct points listing, a ZIP-to-ZIP transit matrix and terminal-to-terminal transit standards.
