Seaboard Marine will assume control of the Concorde Line service connecting the U.S. Gulf and Central America early this month. Seaboard intends to continue using the existing Concorde vessel on its fortnightly rotation. The service will maintain its schedule from Houston and New Orleans to Belize, Honduras and Guatemala. Seaboard's existing vessel sailings from Miami to Central America remain unchanged.
Estes Express Lines, a full-service provider of less-than-truckload and truckload transportation services, has launched a new operating division called Estes Integrated Solutions (EIS). EIS will include such services as short- and long-term warehousing, inbound consolidation, assembly, pick and pack, and pool distribution.
"Redi-Rail," a joint offering of GATX Rail and CSX Transportation (CSXT), offers a flexible fleet solution to shippers of liquid and dry petroleum and chemical products. Under terms of the arrangement, which caters both to companies that are new to shipping bulk commodities by rail and to current rail shippers that want to add shipping capacity quickly, GATX Rail will make available a fleet of tank and hopper cars and CSXT will handle the transportation.
Visar Logistics, a supply chain management solutions company specializing in warehousing, distribution, kitting and assembly, software management solutions and logistics consulting, has opened for business. Headquartered in Houston, the company will operate a global network of logistics service centers.
NorthAmerican Logistics (nAL), a division of SIRVA, has announced the addition of consulting services to its portfolio of integrated supply chain services. nAL's menu of consulting services includes value chain strategy alignment, strategic supply chain configuration, supply chain strategy modeling, supply chain network design and transportation network modeling .
