DHL Worldwide Express is now decking out its newest Boeing 757SF aircraft in a red-and-yellow livery scheme noting the company's integration with Danzas and Deutsche Post Euro Express. The company has invested 1 billion euros in its new fleet of 34 757SF's, which will replace the old cadre of B727SF's. The 757SF, the quietest plane in its category, allows DHL to meet and exceed international noise and emissions standards.
The integration comes after Deutsche Post World obtained 100-percent ownership of DHL by buying Lufthansa's 25-percent share to add to its own holdings last year. The group plans to consolidate its entire express and logistics business under the DHL umbrella this year.
Meanwhile, the new paint job, with the familiar red DHL logo flying over a yellow background, will help to create a visual brand for the "new DHL." The company notes that it will roll out further branding efforts throughout the year.
Lynden Air Freight is partnering with Continental Cargo, a division of Continental Airlines. Through the alliance, Lynden receives protected space allocations, favored pricing and priority boarding of shipments. Lynden will provide Continental Cargo with increased support on allocated and ad-hoc trans-Atlantic, trans-Pacific, and Latin and South American lanes.
Airborne Express has outfitted 10,000 of its pickup and delivery drivers with MobileDispatch, a two-way wireless messaging system from Dynamic Mobile Data. This allows real-time monitoring of packages, including the ability to view signature images for proof of delivery. The company expects to have a total of 18,000 trucks so outfitted by June 2003.
CargoSmart Limited has added shipping instructions to its online documentation services to help customers comply with U.S. Customs' 24-hour advance manifest regulation. The shipping instructions function helps users streamline their documentation processes. Customers can submit shipping instructions online, using data from past shipments to minimize rekeying. They also can set up automated notifications for related parties to let them know when information has been received.
