P&O Nedlloyd, a global provider of ocean shipping and logistics services, has teamed up with LOG-NET, a provider of international trade information services, to launch a joint venture in Shanghai, China. The new company, LOG-NET Shanghai Data Service Company, will offer electronic data interchange (EDI) technology for manufacturers, exporters, and importers doing business in China.
Nippon Express USA is now offering the Web Shipper's Letter of Instruction (WEBSLI) on its Web site (www.nipponexpressusa.com). This free order-entry system is designed to save time and money by eliminating the need for repeat customers to re-enter data. Commercial invoices and shippers export declarations can be forwarded directly to U.S. Customs through the site.
Estes Express has launched Estes Air Transportation Services to provide customers with airfreight forwarding services throughout the continental United States. Shippers can choose from Same Day/Next Flight Out, Next Day Priority A.M. or P.M., Second Day, three-to-five-day Economy, Time Definite, or Air Charter service. Company executives say the new, non-asset-based service will allow Estes to become a full-service provider for its customers.
NYK Line's Margarita Express now travels from Long Beach, Calif., to Central America with stops in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Colombia. Cargo unloading at the Port of Manzanillo, Mexico, is relayed to Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Bolivia.
SIRVA, Inc. has acquired Scandinavia-based Scanvan, a provider of domestic and international relocation services for corporations, governments, and consumers throughout the region. SIRVA will add the century-old company to its comprehensive global network, which operates in 36 countries.
