Walkie pallet truck offers maneuverability
The new 102XM walkie pallet truck from Raymond Corp. is designed for use on crowded loading docks, in congested warehouse aisles, or inside trailers. With its reduced head length and a handle that can be moved to a nearly vertical position, the unit can turn 180 degrees and stack pallets at right angles inside a 96-inch-wide trailer.
Direction and speed are controlled by thumb wheels for one-handed operation. Easy-to-read displays on the handle include a battery-discharge indicator, hour meter, and maintenance-code display. The handle also includes a keypad for programming the truck's performance to suit different operator skill levels or applications.
The truck has a lift capacity of 4,500 pounds and a top loaded travel speed of 3.4 mph. An optional cold-storage package enables the 102XM to operate in temperatures as low as minus 13 degrees F.

Vacuum lifter handles large, awkward loads
The VFP series of vacuum lifters can handle large loads, such as oversized plastic or fiberglass containers, weighing up to 10,000 pounds. According to the manufacturer, the lifter protects containers from damage caused by forklift prongs, chains, and belts while allowing a single person to lift awkward-sized loads.
An integrated vacuum guard system with audio-visual alarms monitors the unit for safety. Features include a custom handle bar and suction pad arrangement that can be modified to allow the operator to lift loads from the side as well as from the top.

Vertical carousels improve security, safety
The 2100-Series and 2200-Series medium-duty vertical carousels from FKI Logistex offer cost-effective, reliable performance in small-footprint storage spaces. The units come standard with several control options, including simple manual up/down controls to software-capable controls with integral vertical carousel interface terminals. The high-level control software is fully compatible with all White Systems software packages. The 2100 and 2200 models also feature optional counter-mounted, pick-to-light displays to increase inventory accuracy.
Products are stored completely enclosed in the carousels, which can be locked when not in use. A variety of security devices, such as magnetic swipe cards and automated mini-doors can be added to the carousels to restrict access to products in storage. In addition, features such as touch bars, polarized photo eyes, and a spring-set motor brake enhance safety by preventing accidental or unintended motion during picking, put-away, and power outages.

Carousel unit increases storage density
Remstar now offers horizontal carousel carriers measuring 37 ¾ inches (960 mm) wide that can significantly increase storage density and order-picking throughput. These wider-than-standard units can accommodate a one-for-one transfer of items stored on traditional static shelving to reduce overall storage space requirements by 40 to 60 percent. Shelves can be positioned as few as two inches apart for maximum storage density.
The unit is designed to hold standardized European packaging and totes, making them ideal for companies that import or export metric-measured goods.

WMS fills multiple orders at one time
ACCPAC has released version 3.4 of its warehouse management system, which is designed for small and mid-sized businesses. The package features improved serialized inventory control, new bill of lading and manifest-tracking capabilities, and inventory-replenishment and picking tools. It also supports "supermarket picking," which allows pickers to fill multiple orders simultaneously.

RFID printer creates variable-frequency chips
The EasyCoder Intellitag PM4i printer is the latest generation of radio frequency identification (RFID)-enabled smart printers from Intermec. It creates "frequency-agile" "Intellitag" RFID chips that can be read and written to at any frequency between 800 MHz and 928 MHz. Once programmed, the tags can be read by any type of reader operating in that range.
This capability allows companies that buy and sell internationally to use a single tag globally, matching the frequency standard of the local region. For example, a tag could be written in Europe at 865 MHz, then travel to North America, where it could be read at 915MHz. When the printer creates the tag, it simultaneously creates a bar code and human-readable text.

Man-up stacker for use in narrow aisles
The ETX-Kombi man-up lift truck has a cab that provides unobstructed views of forks, load, and aisle way while allowing the operator to either stand or sit. A 180-degree swing-reach mast and AC drive control make it suitable for use in narrow aisles and confined spaces. A rotating mast lets operators pick up loads on either side of the storage aisle. All control devices are positioned on a panel directly in front of the operator. Functions such as lifting/lowering, steering, and braking are controlled by just two switches and push buttons on the console. Safety bars and a foot guard assure operator protection.
