DHL Danzas Air & Ocean has opened a high-tech logistics terminal at Cargo City South at the Frankfurt Airport in Frankfurt, Germany. The new facility houses all of DHL's air and ocean freight operations, which had been spread across three locations. The distribution center has been certified by the Technology Asset Protection Association (TAPA) as meeting the highest security standards.
Logistics Management Solutions has unveiled Web Scheduler, an online tool designed to assist customers with the new hours-of-service rules. Shippers can track carrier arrival and departure times for comparison with scheduled and actual load times to monitor activity and reduce detention time.
NYK Line has rebranded its logistics subsidiaries under the NYK Logistics name. The company's five Americas business units—GST Corp., UWDC, ETA, OCS, and New Wave Logistics—now operate as divisions of NYK Logistics (Americas) Inc. New Wave and UCI in Europe and Asia-Pacific have also been rebranded as NYK Logistics.
Associated Global Systems is now offering a variety of truckload services, including a 24-hour expediting desk; one- or two-man teams, drop trailers, live loading with driver on-site, assisted loading, and more. Customers can choose from 48- and 53-foot dry vans, air-ride, flatbed, and drop-deck trailers.
Estes Express' new "Family of Services" is designed for customers with multiple transportation needs that are looking for a single provider. The suite of eight options includes what the company calls LTL, guaranteed, air, truckload, logistics, innovative, warehousing, and leasing services.
Horizon Lines has added 300 high-cube refrigerated containers to its fleet. The ocean carrier will be adding 600 more units by mid-2004. The new equipment will be used across all of Horizon's trade routes, including Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
