Nippon Express has introduced its East Coast Time Advantage Service (ETA) for cargo imported through JFK International Airport in New York. ETA offers midnight warehouse operation, bar-coded manifest operation, pre-filed customs brokerage, and seven-day, non-stop bulkbreak operations. The service will cut transit times from New York to major cities from Boston to Raleigh-Durham, N.C., by one-half to one day. (www.nipponexpressusa.com)
Henningsen Cold Storage Co. has launched Henningsen Transportation Services, which will offer multi-temperature transportation services in the lower 48 states and Canada. The division provides dry, refrigerated, frozen, and flatbed services for truckload and LTL. (www.henningsen.com)
Matson Navigation Company's new "Paniolo Express" service connects the Big Island of Hawaii and Maui directly to the West Coast. The service will offer specially designed "cowtainers" for the transportation of cattle to the ports of Long Beach and Oakland. (www.matson.com)
Con-Way Transportation will set up a separate division called Con-Way Truckload to move truckloads in transcontinental lanes for three of its regional LTL companies: Con-Way Central Express, Con-Way Southern Express, and Con-Way Western Express.
