The Global Logistics Program at Georgetown University has formed an alliance with the Latin America Logistics Center to develop joint educational programs, research projects, and publications advancing logistics and supply chain management practices in Latin America. The alliance will release its paper, "The State of Logistics Outsourcing in Latin America" this month. (www.lalc.org, www.msb.georgetown.edu)

DHL Danzas Air & Ocean now offers intrastate transportation within Alaska and Hawaii. "APS Instate" is available for full- and less-than-container load shipments, either as a stand-alone service or integrated into DHL's domestic airfreight portfolio. (www.us.danzas.com)

After a management-led buyout, Dedicated Transport LLC will operate as an independent company under the leadership of its current executive team. The carrier will continue to offer dedicated contract carriage and logistics management services to manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. (www.dedicatedtransport.com)

Vastera, the supplier of global trade management software and services, will be acquired by JP Morgan Chase Bank. The deal will give JP Morgan customers access to a "one-stop shop" that combines management of international movement of goods and financial transactions. (www.vastera.com)

Old Dominion Freight Line is expanding its presence in western states by opening service centers in Modesto, Calif., and Colorado Springs, Colo. The new facilities will enable the LTL carrier to improve service to Southern and Central California. (www.odfl.com)

Third-party logistics company Exel will acquire Power Packaging Inc., a provider of USDA- and FDA-approved packaging to food and beverage companies in the U.S. and Canada. Exel had earlier bought several of PP's facilities in the U.S. and U.K. (www.exel.com)
