Print/apply system detects poor RFID labels

By Staff -- Logistics Management, 6/1/2005

A new high-speed print/apply labeling system detects and rejects miscoded or unreadable RFID labels. The Avery Dennison ALX RFID Print/Apply encodes and prints unique RFID labels and applies them to cartons, cases, and pallets.

The system takes faulty labels and rewinds them with spent media carrier onto a rewind apparatus. It then encodes and prints the next label, and automatically applies it to the targeted item. The unit also features a "jump-the-bump" capability to guard against label damage during printing. This capability guides the print head over the bump created by an embedded RFID microchip, ensuring the integrity and readability of the labels.
