OAKLAND, LONDON—APL Logistics, an Oakland-based global supply chain management service provider, and Christian Salvesen, a London-based logistics specialist providing supply chain operation outsourcing for the industrial, consumer and food industries, said last week they will join forces for a joint venture.
This joint venture will leverage APL’s worldwide capabilities and Christian Salvesen’s European network to establish an international provider with specialized supply chain management capabilities and a strong presence in land-based logistics in key locations, according to a joint statement released by the companies.
The yet-to-be named joint venture will be based in England and focus on specific European customers in the retail, automotive, consumer electronics and technology markets.
This initiative was spurred by APL and Christian Salvesen customer feedback, requesting a need for an integrated demand and fulfillment service that will utilize their existing capabilities and meet the growing and changing needs of the market, said Stewart Eades, Christian Salvesen CEO, and Dave Appleton Europe region president of NOL Group, APL’s parent company.
