LoadHog solves heavy-duty dock problems

Staff -- Logistics Management, 1/1/2006

SPX Dock Products has released an updated version of its LoadHog modular dock bridge. The new LoadHog has a capacity of 15,000 pounds gross vehicle weight (GVW) and is comparable to a 40,000-pound capacity pit leveler.

The LoadHog mounts to the warehouse floor using four heavy-duty anchor bolts, requiring no concrete work. The bumper-block assembly attaches to the face of the dock with four anchors per bumper. Once the trailer has been positioned and the dock door has been raised, the dockworker steps on the release pedal, gently pushes the deck forward, and LoadHog descends slowly into the trailer.

The LoadHog is available in 5-, 6-, and 7-foot widths and one standard length. The dock bridge can handle three- and four-wheel forklift traffic and allows access to a wide range of trailers, including refrigerated and container trucks and trailers, says the manufacturer.
